Southern California SIDS Support Group

No parent should have to carry this kind of loss alone.

Our mission is to walk alongside one another through
grief, healing, and life after SIDS or sudden unexpected
infant loss by offering compassion, understanding, and
the grounding power of shared lived experience.

Our purpose is to provide connection, understanding,
and peer support to parents and families navigating life
after infant loss, honoring each baby’s life and each
family’s grief without timelines, judgment, or
comparison.

We envision a safe and compassionate community
where bereaved parents are met with empathy, held in
shared understanding, and supported as they move
forward; one moment, one breath, and one step at a
time carrying love, remembrance, and hope.

About Us

We offer a safe, understanding space where your story is honored without judgment, comparison, or pressure. Together, the Southern California SIDS Support Group:

  • Walks alongside one another through grief, healing, and life after loss.
  • Offers understanding, compassion, and shared lived experience.
  • Creates a safe, respectful space where parents and families are not alone.

We are a peer-led community of
parents and family members who
have experienced the death of a baby due to SIDS or sudden
unexpected infant loss (SUID).

We honor every child’s life and every family’s grief. There is no timeline, no comparison, and no “right way” to grieve. Together, we hold space for remembrance, connection, and hope. One moment at a time.

What is SIDS?

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden and
unexpected death of a baby under one year old, usually during
sleep, that remains unexplained even after thorough medical
evaluation. It often happens without warning, in babies who
appeared healthy and well.

Important Things to Know About SIDS

  • There is no cure for SIDS, and it cannot be prevented.

  • There is no confirmed or single known cause of SIDS.

  • SIDS often occurs during sleep, quietly and without signs of
    suffering.

  • Nothing you did, or didn’t do, caused your baby’s death.

  • It is not your fault.

You are not alone in this. Support, understanding, and care are here for you.
